Description:

Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji are sent back in time, from the moment that Mo Xuanyu performed his ritual to the beginning of the Cloud Recesses study arc.  Lan Wangji returns in his own body, but Jiang Cheng is currently in the body of Wei Wuxian.

[link]  Wei Wuxian had been returning to the inn in Caiyi Town where he'd forgotten the invitation into the Cloud Recesses.  Jiang Cheng wakes up in his body, but is initially ill from the effects of the transfer.  Jin Zixuan finds him and believes he is drunk, reluctantly giving him one of the extra rooms to sleep it off.  

[link]  At the same time, Lan Wangji collapses while showing the rest of the Jiang disciples to their guest quarters.  Past Jiang Cheng attempts to help, and is attacked but pushed aside by Jiang Yanli, who suffers a minor injury.  Both Lan Wangji and Jiang Yanli go to the healers, led by Lan Xichen.  Lan Wangji realizes that he is in the past and sneaks away to try and see Wei Wuxian, who does not appear on the rooftop. 

[link]  In the morning, Lan Xichen is informing his uncle of the evening's events.  He is informed that Lan Wangji is on the roof.  They catch him, and Lan Wangji is set to be punished.  First, though, his attendance is required at the Salute Ceremony.

[link]  Future Jiang Cheng wakes and discovers that he is in Wei Wuxian's body.  With a lack of other options, he accompanies the Jin contingent into Cloud Recesses.  He makes it to the hall without incident, but is yelled at by his past self.  Future Jiang Cheng sees his sister, then watches the ceremony unfold, including the interruption by the Wen.  Lan Wangji watches him and is concerned over the change in behavior between Future Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian.  Lan Wangji attempts to speak with him, and only gets more concerned.

[link]  Future Jiang Cheng asks his past self for information about what happened with Lan Wangji the previous night.  This results in Jiang Yanli figuring out that he is Future Jiang Cheng.  He explains what he knows, then begins to summarize the events of The Untamed episodes 1 - 32.  Past Jiang Cheng becomes angry and starts a fistfight between them.

[link] Lan Wangji had been lurking outside and hears enough of the fight to identify that Future Jiang Cheng has possessed Wei Wuxian's body.  Future Jiang Cheng is brought to Lan Xichen to be exorcised.  This results in another explanation of the plot of The Untamed episodes 1 - 32.  Lan Wangji attempts to hide Wei Wuxian's crimes.  Jiang Cheng attempts to be accurate, but has a number of false conclusions such as believing that Wei Wuxian had mind-controlled Lan Wangji. 

[link]  Everyone (including Future Jiang Cheng) agree that he needs to be exorcised, now that the information about the future has been conveyed.  This takes time to prepare, during which Lan Xichen collects materials for the exorcism and informs Lan Qiren, and Future Jiang Cheng bids farewell to his sister.  The exorcism is attempted and fails.  Further attempts with variations also fail.  Future Jiang Cheng is forced to attend classes to keep up appearances while a solution is searched for.

[link]  Yu Ziyuan (mother of Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli) is invited to Cloud Recesses, as her whip Zidian is capable of driving out possessing spirits.  She is informed of the nature of the possession, as well as being handed a stack of secrets from the future by Future Jiang Cheng, for use in strengthening the Jiang sect.  She refuses to obey Lan Xichen's request and instead takes her children into Caiyi Town. 

[link]  While walking through Caiyi Town, they hear a crowd gathering.  There is news from Nightless City.  The Wen sect has been destroyed by an army of fierce corpses.  Future Jiang Cheng immediately knows that this must be Wei Wuxian's handiwork.  Yu Ziyuan decides to take Future Jiang Cheng back to Lotus Pier with her, though reluctantly agrees that Past Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli may stay for the lectures.

[link]  Lan Xichen is informed of the fall of Nightless City, as well as Yu Ziyuan taking her son back to Lotus Pier.  The cultivator who brings the news also brings news that Jin Guangshan, sect leader of the Jin sect, was at Nightless City at the time and has also died.  He in turn informs Wen Ning and Jin Zixuan that they are now the sect leaders of their respective sects.

Description:

Wei Wuxian has just destroyed Nightless City and is on his way to Cloud Recesses to give Lan Xichen the Yin Iron and to check in on his siblings.  He immediately runs into Lan Wangji.

[link]  Wei Wuxian has left the destroyed Nightless City and has come to Cloud Recesses.  Lan Wangji spots him in the courtyard, is hugged, and offers "Mo Xuanyu" food.

[link] Lan Xichen (who is very tired) manages to guess that the child is The Yiling Patriarch.  Wei Wuxian is informed that Lan Wangji is from the future, as is the version of Jiang Cheng currently in Wei Wuxian's original body.  They discuss time travel and Wen Ning, before Lan Xichen orders them to go to bed. 

[link]  Young Jiang Cheng wakes up and talks to Wei Wuxian, then brings him to Jiang Yanli.  They eat breakfast before the two teenagers need to attend Lan Qiren's classes. 

[link]  Those in teenage bodies attend class.  Wei Wuxian attends as a paperman. 

[link]  Class finishes.  Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng, Jiang Yanli, and Lan Wangji speak.  Jiang Cheng continues to be annoyed at Lan Wangji for attempting to stab him and not apologizing to him (though he has to nearly everyone else).  Lan Wangji agrees to play cleansing for Wei Wuxian. 

[link] Wei Wuxian's next goal is to learn to body swap them back, so that he is in his own body and Future Jiang Cheng is in Mo Xuanyu's.  Jiang Cheng is worried that Future Jiang Cheng might get swapped into his body, and is reassured. This leads to the information that demonic cultivation does not require a golden core. 

[link] Wei Wuxian becomes concerned that body swapping with Future Jiang Cheng might leave Future Jiang Cheng in a body without the ability to cultivate. 

[link]  Lan Wangji plays cleansing for Wei Wuxian.  While they are busy, Jiang Yanli notices that Past Jiang Cheng feels useless.  Knowing the feeling herself, she asks him to buy ingredients from Caiyi Town and then help her prepare her pork rib and lotus root soup.  

[link]  They eat soup together.  After eating, they discuss whether to inform Future Jiang Cheng.  Jiang Yanli wants to, while the men are skeptical. 

[link]  Future Jiang Cheng gets the letter about Wei Wuxian.  He wants to leave, because Wei Wuxian is too well known around Lotus Pier and his different personality means he's been effectively confined to his room since arriving.  His parents fight.  Yu Ziyuan doesn't want him to go, but allows him, and gives him Zidian and supplies. 

[link]  Future Jiang Cheng reaches Cloud Recesses, has difficulty entering, and gets into an argument with Lan Wangji when he is finally allowed through the gates.  He goes looking for Wei Wuxian, who sneakily follows him around since Jiang Wanyin does not know what the body Wei Wuxian is in looks like.  Nie Huaisang notices that "Wei Wuxian" is acting strangely. 

[link]  Class is let out and Future Jiang Cheng reunites with his sister and past self.  He finally finds out that Wei Wuxian has been trailing him all day.  He recognizes the name Mo Xuanyu, who had been kicked out of the Jin sect for incest. 

[link]  Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji study and start designing a spell for swapping Wei Wuxian into his original body.  Future Jiang Cheng is curious why he was sent back in such a weird way.  Past Jiang Cheng is once again insecure about his position now that there are 2 Jiang Chengs. 

[link] Time passes.  Lan Wangji notices how Wei Wuxian is dragging his heels.  He confronts him.  Wei Wuxian insists that he wants to wait at least a year.  Lan Wangji does not understand, but decides to trust Wei Wuxian.

Summary: Sandu Shengshou and Lan Wangji go on a road trip

Description:

The remaining pieces of the Yin Iron need to be recovered.  One is in the garden of the Flower Maiden, one is held by the Chang clan, and one is with the Xuanwu of Slaughter in Dusk Creek Mountain.  As Lan Wangji and Sandu Shengshou have nothing better to do, they are sent out to retrieve them.

[link]  Lan Xichen finds Future Jiang Cheng and convinces him to go on a night hunt with Lan Wangji.  He also subtly informs Jiang Cheng of Lan Wangji's interest in Wei Wuxian. 

[link] Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji go to Yueyang and the Chang Clan first.  The piece is at the bottom of a depleted silver mine, and they collect it. 

[link] The second piece is with the Flower Damsel.  She can detect that Jiang Cheng is not the original holder of the body he is in, and speaks cryptically.  Afterwards, when they are staying at an inn, Jiang Cheng tells the story about how his golden core was lost and then replaced by Baoshan Sanren. 

[link] They fight the Xuanwu of Slaughter.  They kill it, but Jiang Cheng is badly wounded in the attempt.

[link] Lan Wangji brings Jiang Cheng to Nightless City for treatment.  While waiting for him to heal, Lan Wangji assists with Wen Qing's library.  He discovers the scroll on Golden Core Transfers and puts together the pieces. 

[link] Young Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian arrive in Nightless City.  They meet up with Sandu Shengshou and Lan Wangji, as well as Wen Ning and Wen Qing.

[link] Lan Wangji confronts Wei Wuxian about his golden core, and Sandu Shengshou overhears.  He reopens his wounds in attempting to question Wei Wuxian.  The Younger Jiang Cheng hears the story of Wei Wuxian's golden core.

[link] Wen Qing wakes Sandu Shengshou up.  She has figured out that he is from the future, though not that two of the others are.  They come up with an elaborate lie to hide that, and also that Wei Wuxian is responsible for Nightless City's destruction, blaming the disaster on the Yin Iron.  Young Jiang Cheng is sent to inform Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji of the conspiracy. 

[link] Lan Xichen arrives for a diplomatic meeting and to check on his younger brother.  They destroy the Yin Iron, but the process will take a few days and Sandu Shengshou needs time to recover as well.

[link] Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji finally realize that the other one loves them back!  They set a date for their wedding once the body that Wei Wuxian is in has a golden core, so they can do the switch without giving Sandu Shengshou ptsd flashbacks, which Sandu Shengshou tries to argue with but Wei Wuxian overrules him. 

[link] They leave for Cloud Recesses.  On the way there, Sandu Shengshou suggests that Lan Xichen should go find Meng Yao as a potential romantic partner, and Wei Wuxian suggests that the two Jiang Chengs can be a supportive team for one another after Wei Wuxian marries into Cloud Recesses. 

[link] Time passes.  Wei Wuxian gets his golden core, and they switch back.  Jiang Cheng attempts to implement a rule against premarital sex for the few weeks before the wedding, which Wei Wuxian easily finds a way around.  The story ends in a wedding.
