Real quick glowfic 101

what is glowfic?

glowfic is a genre of webfiction! it’s a cross between a text roleplay and a coauthored story. it started as a collaboration by a couple of writers, Alicorn and Kappa, on dreamwidth; now it has its own website, called “the constellation.” the front page of the constellation has a link to a community guide to glowfic, which includes a glossary of all the weird glowfic jargon.

there’s an awful lot of glowfic and no obvious way to tell which things are prerequisite for which other things! where do i start?

the first glowfic i read was in color; it requires very little background (other than maybe having read this setting explanation first) and is very good and not insanely long.

if you aren’t sure what to read after that, the reading list included in this guide may be helpful. it contains a lot of the glowfic i’ve read.

if you want to read more threads by a particular author, or more threads involving a particular character, you can go to their author page (respectively, character page) and choose from their list of threads or continuities.
