History

Background

Alli was born to Charlie and Renée Swan just slightly after her twin sister Bella. Following their parents' divorce, Bella and Alli moved to Phoenix, Arizona with their mother. They started attending the twins-only high school Apollo High at fifteen, where they befriend the Sanders twins Savannah and Adana.^1[1] On her sixteenth birthday, Alli gets her bonus (enthusing that it allows her to get "twice as much done") and spends the next week experimenting on her powers with Bella.^2[2] After being evaluated, she joins the Gemini Guard as Bella's optional/emergency support, junior grade, stratum 4.^3[3]

Volcano

When it's revealed that the Yellowstone supervolcano is about to go off, Alli's family and the Sanders family evacuates to her father's house in Forks, Washington.^4[4] Alli spends the evacuation stationed in a Junebug center twining Bella new instructions and coordinates in realtime, using her forked self to keep herself fed and rested.^5[5] After everything is over, Alli and Bella are awarded medals.^6[6]

Twin Bonus

As twins from Gemini, Bella and Alli get their powers (or "bonus") as soon as they turn sixteen. Alli gains the ability to duplicate herself.^7[7] Both copies of herself will act perfectly in sync until separated by someone else, usually Bella.^8[8] They cannot twine each other, but can both twine Bella.^9[9] She can only subdivide a single time, for a total of two Allis.^10[10] She can recombine the copies, at which point she has both sets of memories; if she does not recombine, one copy will vanish automatically after about three and a half hours, though she can pick which disappears.^[11]11[12]12 Her nickname in the Gemini Guard is "Verge".^13[13]
