Jade is the Joker from the Thalassa universe. She is a mermaid with gills, green hair and turquoise-tinted skin.^1[1] She can see in the dark and has an unspecified form of magic in her voice.^[2]2[3]3

Family

She is the daughter of King Triton, who is abusive and has given her multiple scars.^4[4] As Triton has many wives, she has more brothers and sisters than she can count.^5[5]

History

After seeing Cymbeline of Loegria fall overboard in a storm, Jade rescues him from drowning and brings him ashore.^6[6] Wishing to return to the surface, she asks the sea witch for legs.^7[7] The sea witch provides her with temporary cursed legs in exchange for her magical voice.^8[8] She is found on the beach by Zoyah of Loegria and brought to the palace.^9[9] Cymbeline identifies her as his rescuer and, since she cannot speak to give her name, dubs her Jade.^10[10] At Jade's request Cymbeline attaches her legs permanently, despite his confusion at their cursed nature.^11[11] She has been learning sign language from Cymbeline as a way to work around her muteness.^12[12]
