Origin

Started as a cluster of the Rowan group of templates in an attempt to fit that template into the circumstances of Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments, but became their own template within a few months. Which Clary was the original instance is somewhat debatable, as several which began as Seras or Clary-cluster Rowans would become part of the template. 

The original instance could be said to have been either Clary Fray (cæco-igni) or Sharra Arryn (wings-of-fire). Notable other instances include Clary Fray (rose-gold), Clary Morcant (let-me-in), and Belotenia Llewellyn (golden-crown).

 

Name attractors

Different clusters of Claries have different naming attractors.

The strongest and most obvious attractor for f!Claries is 'Clary, Clarissa, and variations thereof', that being the name Joss/Fray usually gives her. If raised by Val a Clary will usually be named after Val's mother, Seraphina or variations thereof. If not, they will invariably have a name that is divine or otherwise glorious. 

Male Claries tend to be named after Luke Garroway/Graymark, either taking the name Luke itself, or taking his middle name, Lyall. 

 

Attractors

  • Power attractors
    • heat, the sun, light, fire, purity, healing
  • If she's part of a special group she will be exceptional among them
    • e.g. she's a Shadowhunter, who all have some among of angel blood. Clary has more angel blood and talents than anyone else.
    • this is usually as a result of someone messing around with her genes when she is still a fetus.

 

Clusters

The Clary template has clusters mostly to do with who their parents are/who is raising them.

The clusters are:

  • Fray cluster: raised by a Jocelyn and a Remus/Luke. Biological/terrible father not in the picture.
    • Garroway sub-cluster: Raised by a Luke without a Joss in the picture.

  • Seraph cluster: Raised by a Valentine. Righteous and amoral and pretty fucked up in general. Contains most of the OP Clary instances.
    • Vikare sub-cluster: Worships the sun god, Apollo, and the goddess of the hunt, Artemis.

  • Morcant cluster: raised (ish) by a Jocelyn and a Robert. Jocelyn peaces out from parenting and leaves the Clary with Robert. Always has an Alex. Robert's parenting skills vary with each instance. Has more responsibilities than normal and is repressed by outside forces.

    • Rath sub-cluster: Robert's parenting is less ridged and the Claries have less personal responsibility. Are usually raised in privilege.

    •  Everard sub-cluster: raised by Faceless' Rose with Gabriel and a Henry as brother and cousin.
