Sylvi is the latest Bell from the Cycle universe. She was preceded by Alymbel, Akibel Mowar and Beluna.

History

Background

Sylvi was raised in Niaham, where she spent seven years in the creche before finding a teacher to apprentice from.1 She worked on automating shines, though she also made herself a horse-shaped automaton to compensate for her clumsiness.23 At eighteen, she started having oddly vivid dreams of her past lives; after reporting a fellow apprentice for rape, her household treated her coldly for 'siding against them', and she decided that- as long as she was leaving anyway- she might as well investigate.4 Identifying the city of Lapis, she traveled there to investigate.5

Lapis

Upon her arrival in Lapis, she and Avedan are mobbed by a flock of parrot servants who lead them to Charp, a golem who welcomes them "back" and gives them access to the belongings of their past selves.67 After spending time together in their cache, Sylvi and Avedan begin a relationship.8 A while later, Sylvi invents a shine-baesd Turing machine. They are eventually added to the Plague of Utopias, though they remain confused by and skeptical of conventional reproduction.9
