Aliya is the Aliya from the Epilogue universe.

Personality

Aliya grows up charming, sweet and rather naive. Despite her innocence, she has good intuition and is naturally perceptive (aided liberally by her scrying abilities). Unfortunately, as her mind is overloaded with fae magic it cannot handle, Aliya is also fundamentally unstable. When displeased or thwarted, she is capable of immense rages, and she grows increasingly delusional as she grows older.[1]

History

Background

Aliya is the third halfblood born on Kystle in Epilogue. She was located before birth and carefully raised by the second bloodline to be as stable as possible. When she was old enough to bear children, a man named Nereus arranged for Veron Barkett to kidnap her. Rather than being traumatized by the kidnapping, Aliya was delighted by the freedom, the adventure, and above all with Nereus; she became infatuated with him, and wound up pregnant. At this point a rescue effort from the second bloodline appeared, killing Nereus in the process, which set Aliya on a murderous rampage. Veron managed to talk her down, and he and the second bloodline declared a truce rather than risk upsetting her again. Aliya went home and gave birth to twins, Adarin and Zeviana, who grew up near her under Veron's care.[1]

Invasion

When the twins had grown up, they both categorically refused to participate in the second bloodline's breeding program; dismayed, the second bloodline went searching for more magic themselves. This led them to summon the Pythial, who promptly went on a murderous rampage. When the Pythial reached Aliya, she promptly blew herself up, taking Veron and the entire city with her.[1]

Afterlife

After much of the population evacuated to New Kystle, Aliya remained on Kystle. She granted Lynnari Corvalias magical weapons and immortality in exchange for the ability to drain power from the Pythial Lynn killed. Eventually she grew impatient for more power, and created portals to New Kystle to encourage the refugees to kill the Pythial and empower her faster. Faced with another Pythial invasion there were plenty of volunteers, but once she had enough power to resurrect Nereus, Aliya abandoned the demon hunters to their fates. When Adarin found out what she had done, he guilted her into destroying all the remaining Pythial and terraforming Kystle into habitability, at which point she dispersed.[2]

Powers

As her father was Fae, Aliya was far and away the most magically powerful person in her universe. Like all halfbloods, she exists in a state of near-perpetual scrying along with a low-level empathy for those around her, and has the nausea-inducing ability to feel herself slowly dying. Beyond that, she has vast stores of mana which are capable of clobbering through anything put in front of her short of an actual Fae.[3]
