Kiri is sweela with the birth blessings of intelligence, clarity and power. She becomes the sweela Prime when she is eight years old. Along with the role of Prime she gains control over fire and the involuntary ability to read the minds of anyone near her.

Early Life

Kiri is the eldest child of Renny Swan Ardelay and Karls Swan, older than her twin Aleko by ten minutes. They lived with their parents and their little brother Jayce outside of Chialto in Swiftford. When Kiri is eight years old, she inherits the powers of sweela Prime from her great-aunt Elytte Ardelay, and she starts splitting time at the Ardelay properties in Chialto and up the Swiftness river to learn about her responsibilities as Ardelay prime.

Prime Childhood

Kiri befriends the princes Hector and Isten upon her arrival in Chialto. Prince Hector is the first person to allow her to read his mind, and in the process helps Aleko become comfortable doing the same. When reading Hector Kiri discovers that the king is abusing his children, so she issues a standing invitation to both princes to visit the Ardelay country home, out of reach of their father. She later includes Patience Frothen, granddaughter of the Frothen Prime Alser, in the invitations at Alser's request. They all regularly visit until Prince Hector disappears six years later.

Teenage Years

When Kiri is eighteen, the coru prime Nerine Lalindar and the hunti prime Valdin Serlast murder each other and their heirs do not surface. Kiri realizes that Prince Hector was a Lalindar, and she and her siblings track him down in Thiyec. Once they verify he is indeed the missing Lalinder prime, they bring him back to Welce. Upon her return she meets Sarelle Dochenza, who has become the elay Prime in her absence, and they and Aleko retrieve the missing hunti prime Ekador Serlast from Malinqua. Since all the Primes have now been located, Kiri brings Sarelle, Ekador and Patience to meet Loel at the Lalindar estate; during their visit, Alser Frothen dies and Patience inherits his role as Prime.
