"Well! Yeah, I guess that is, sort of, my distinguishing feature, is that I am the single one, although I kind of wish it were something flashier," says Pattern. "I'm basically a standard Bell stripped down of everything warranting particular categorization. I don't even have a mental opacity because that'd commit me to a magic system. Let alone a boyfriend to let me pick a team if we ever play pickup softball, although I guess it'd just wind up being Joker-Havers versus Non-Joker-Havers."

Background

Pattern is the Bell from Origin. She is considered the most "central" example of the Bell template. Pattern's story is the standard one, but when she got hit by the van, she simply died and stayed in Downside for four years (in her world's time) before being found by the other Bells and added to the peal efforts to conquer Downside.

Originally her nickname was "Template".

The Empire of Rings

After returning home, Pattern reunited with her parents, she created her palace in the moon Titan and named it Thetis.

When the Peal found Belle Cygne they decided to acquire enchantress aura's by means of terraforming Saturn through enchanted bubbles.

Alone in  the Multiverse and Repealing

When Jane lost her connection with the multiversal network, Origin stayed subjectively disconnected for two months in local time. During that disconnected time, Pattern and Queenie prevented the events from The Dark Knight Rises from happening. She set up a prison colony on Ganymede to hold the conspirators.

Jane is Down again

Pattern asks Aianon and Ansharil to create wildlife for Saturn, and Jane breaks again leaving the bonded Jokers stranded in Origin, their mental connection with Sarion syncs time with Thilanushinyel. Origin experiences sixteen years of time before the repealing, during which time Pattern acquires a boyfriend, Ripper Giles.

Relationship with the Bell Template

Pattern was categorized by Glass as "the modal Bell", not the first, but the standard in terms of personality and backstory, this status caused a level of emotional distress to her.

Divergences

Despite being "the modal Bell", Pattern lacks the mental opacity power because her world lacks native magic. She also is the only Bell from a world with a Gotham City.
