Cymbeline is the Bell from the Thalassa universe.

Abilities

Cymbeline has a "charmed mind", improving his memory, speeding up his thinking and providing some mental defenses against hostile magic.^[1] He has been learning additional magic from Kerem, the court magician.^[2] He has demonstrated the ability to speak at least Loegrian and Iberiola.^[3]

History

As the prince of Loegria Cymbeline often assists his father King Charles with affairs of state, since neither his mother Queen Ranae or his sister Princess Zoyah are interested.^[4] He is on his way to Vectis to oversee a change of governorship when he is knocked overboard by a storm.^[5]. He is rescued and brought to shore by the mermaid Ariel.^[6] When she is later brought to the palace by Zoyah, he identifies the mermaid as his rescuer and, since she cannot speak, gives her the name Jade.^[7] At Jade's request he attaches her legs permanently, despite his confusion at their cursed nature.^[8] He has been teaching Jade sign language from a library book as a workaround for her muteness.^[9]
