History
Background
Annie is an undeclared student at the University of Drofnfjord. She considered applying to the Artifact Studies department, but was unwilling to fulfill their requirement that she touch the horn because she values her privacy too much to tolerate the side effect.[1]
Aldaras' Keeper
One day, Aldaras Sarbror passes by her on campus and, as a side effect of him touching the necklace, he falls instantly in love with her. As Aldaras' new favorite person, Annie immediately becomes his keeper as well. Though confused by his reaction to her, Annie allows Aldaras to tell her his secrets rather than make him suffer his guilt.[2] He explains what has happened, and she agrees to make herself available if he needs to tell her more secrets in the future.[3] Aldaras slowly learns more information about the necklace, until he finally leaves to rescue his sister from the knife a few days later, along with a recruit named Sintre.[4] He returns successfully, and Annie and Zevaia are introduced.[5]
The Theft
After his mission, Aldaras instantly becomes a rich celebrity.[6] Annie begins a tentative relationship with him after he takes her to a fancy party.[7] Just after this, the necklace and the thimble are reported stolen, though the necklace is found soon after hidden in a vase and returned to Aldaras.[8][9] After a bank robbery creates panic, he and Annie interview people to be allowed to touch the necklace, until a second robbery steals the tapestry and Annie panics.[10] Terrified of having her mind read, she has Aldaras let her touch the necklace, and they begin a relationship.[11] The next day, at Annie's suggestion, they set a trap for the thief using the chalice as bait, and successfully retrieve the stolen artifacts.[12][13]
Plague
Magic
As one of the touched, Annie is:
- Protected from mental magic, granted by the necklace
- Permanently, magically in love with Aldaras as a side effect
