Early childhood

As a young child, Aegis suffered many injuries due to her clumsiness. Her teachers were concerned that she was being abused and attempted to use a telepath to find out what was going on, at which point they discovered she had a mutant power that defended her mind from telepathic intrusion, they read Renee instead, and found out that her accidents really were just accidents. After several serious accidents, her parents started looking for a solution to the problem and found out about an assistive exoskeleton which had been pulled from the market due to an incident involving a telepath who took control of one of the early users and killed a bunch of people. However, due to Aegis' mental opacity, her parents were able to obtain an exoskeleton for her, which subsequently allowed her to pass the physical tests for Battle school, where she was sent at the age of six.
