Luminosity
She follows the standard Bell backstory until the common divergence point of meeting the supernatural there. Bella meets the Cullens under the same circunstances of the Twilight novel, but her vast different-from-canon personality means the plot unravel differently. The Cullens odd nature caughts her attention and Edward apparent hostility in their first meeting frightens her. Bella was willing to ignore the Cullens and resume her normal new life when Edward absented himself from school the following week, but his behavior of near stalking and constant staring put her off.
One day in the school parking lot, Alice Cullen appeared before Bella when she walked out of her car, Alice firmly dragged Bella away from the vehicle moments before Tyler's van collided with it. Bella noticed that Alice was acting strange possibly oblivious, but without apparent oblivious motives. Later that day, Alice surprised Bella again by invinting her to have lunch by themselves, which only made Bella notice Alice's weird ability to change subject before Bella even spoke.
Later at night, Bella thinks about the situation and comes up with a simple and non-expensive test, she decided to talk with her father about the cullen weirdness, which caused Alice to show up and reveal everything. The Cullens are vampires, that don't eat people and have to keep their nature a secret. Proded further, Alice also revealed that Edward "likes" Bella and that Alice saw Bella as a vampire in a vision.
Given that the Cullens are very welcoming (minus Rosalie open disdain), which would put themselves and Bella at risk, she deduces that Edward "likes" her way more seriously than Alice suggested and the only explanation was some kind of perpetual magical love (She noticed that this is a typical plot in romance novels) which prompted another visit from Alice to intervene on Edward's behalf. Bella agrees to trying being friends with Edward. Eventually, Bella actually falls in love with Edward.
Bella and Cullen peace is shaken when a group of nomadic vampires come across the Cullen family baseball game. One of the nomadic vampires, James, was a tracker with a passion to target protected fragile individuals like Bella. While Bella and the Cullens managed to avoid James for several days, eventually the tracker manages to kidnapp Bella.
Bella manages to think fast and deceives James, leading him to take her to the Volturi to collect a "reward"
