Piper

Piper is the Matilda from the Tayane universe.

History

Piper was a human who was caught by a magic somewhere between one and three thousand years ago.^[1] She was some unspecified age, though less than sixteen, at the time.^[2]. She was running away from someone, tripped, and fell into a river.^[3] The river carried her into the magic, which turned her into a large set of pipes similar to Sheng pipes, capable of playing her own pipes and hovering.^[4] Her original name was not in Esevi, so she prefers to go by Piper.^[5]

Current Day

Piper is stored in the attic at the Duke of Viore's estate, left alone after accidentally convincing multiple maids that the attic was haunted by a singing ghost.^[6] She identifies herself to Aya when Aya stumbles across her in the attic.^[7] As a way to communicate, Aya pastes letters to her keys, which Piper can then use to spell words.^[8] Piper tells Aya she spoke to her and not Aelare because Aelare was hard on his furniture.^[9] She moves herself downstairs to be closer to Aya and Aelare, having missed human company.^[10]
