Cam is the Bell from the Inferno universe.
Appearance
Cam is played by Daniel Sharman. He is five foot ten inches tall and when he became a demon he gave himself dusk blue bat wings and a barbed tail.[1]
History
Background
Like most Bells, Cam was born on September 13th, 1987 to Charles "Charlie" Swan and Renée Higgenbotham in Forks, Washington. Charlie and Renée divorced when he was a baby and he grew up in Phoenix, Arizona with his mother. Renée married Phil Dwyer when Cam was in high school, at which point he moved back to Forks to live with his father so his mother could move to Jacksonville, Florida with Phil.[2]
Summoning
Upon his arrival he finds books on summoning in an abandoned house and teaches himself to summon daeva.[3] Five years later, he attempts to publicize the existence of summoning under the anonymous online handle Revelation. Another summoner, angered by the threat to his daeva-provided lifestyle, tracked Cam down and murdered him.[4] This failed to prevent summoning from spreading but left Cam in Hell, newly a demon. He spent the next hundred and fifty years answering summons and writing to his parents in Limbo.[5]
Space Station
In 2159, an air filtration system's air duct breaks and the resulting oxygen shortage threatens to force the lunar colony of Barthalamos to cut off air to inhabited parts of the station. To prevent this, Adana Sanders hastily summons an ungagged demon.[6] Cam answers her summons and agrees to build her a space station in exchange for a booklist, which Adana uses to rescue the colonists from suffocation.[7]
Harmony
Since her space station is in a different jurisdiction, Adana has to apply for a new summoning license from the Harmony space station.[8] With advance permission she summons Cam again to act as proof of her binding abilities, but they are stopped on the way to Harmony by a pirate who wants to keep Adana as a pet summoner.[9] Out of desperation, she snaps Cam's binding; he rescues her and they agree to work together longer-term before continuing to Harmony.[10]
Partnership
Adana and Cam build themselves a thriving financial empire based on Cam's abilities.[11] As they work Cam explains the secrets of daeva to Adana, and eventually the two begin dating.[12] This goes over poorly with Adana's brother Zane when he arrives unexpectedly and thinks Cam is extorting her, but Adana talks him down.[13] They begin work terraforming Mars, but during one expedition the summoner working with Adana panics whens she sees Cam's binding, and she kills Adana to prevent Cam going rogue.[14] Cam is summarily dismissed and unable to reach Adana, even when Adana's murderer summons him to make sure Mars is safe.[15] Zane appears not long after having died in prison and Cam explains daeva to him, whereupon the two settle down to wait from word from Adana in, presumably, Heaven.[16]
